Isn't this just beautiful! My oldest made this the other night when we were expecting company for dinner! She was very precise about all of it and I chuckled at the pride in which she went about her work. I cut the veggies and put them in a bowl. I gave her no instruction then sat back and watched as she went to work.
She reminded me that at her age I was already helping my mother in the kitchen on a nightly basis. Mostly washing the dishes, though, there weren't dishwashers back then! And of course, we always dried them and put them away, or I should say I did. It was a one or the other chore. Either I would wash, or I would dry. My grandmother did the other. I hated every minute of it.
Oldest loves working the kitchen with me and I like that. I just have to relinquish control and watch her do her stuff! (The control thing is what's hardest for me!)

I think it is great that you are letting them help in the kitchen. My boys LOVE to do housework (mopping, vacuuming, dusting, cleaning glass) and as they are all 7 and under, the do not do a good job. But I can't resist the excitement in their eyes and voices when they ask, "Can I help?"
It is not really helpful, but at the same time, I keep reminding myself that they are in training to be adults. If I don't teach them to do things, they won't learn it.
GOOD JOB, MOM!
