I love it! I was like a kid in a toy store choosing a new toy when I changed my template! It was fun! Dh just laughed at me as I delighted in my new spring/summer look!
Why do we like new changed things? Are you one of those people who change the furniture around? I am! I love to change rooms around and practically anything I can! A friend of mine introduced me to a winter and summer comforter routine, which changes the look of my bedroom enough to keep me happy without moving furniture. Even as a teenager, I moved my bedroom furniture around, driving my parents nuts! And after Dh and I were married, he'd come home to a changed living room or bedroom. He would just chuckle and caution me on doing it by myself.
So, why do we (I) need to make things different? I never understood why I felt the need to change things until I was studying contentment in a ladies bible study. To make a long story short, it brought up a couple of questions that I have never forgot - Was my need to change the furniture around a deeper issue? Did I really know what contentment was in ALL areas of my life? I was taken back by surprise and was forced to seriously question my own motives. The American Heritage Dictionary defines contentment as "the state of being satisfied." After much thought, I realized that it was true -moving furniture was an outlet for the lack of satisfaction I was feeling. It was a UREKA moment, you know when the light bulb comes on!
I took my feelings to the Lord and you know what He fixed it. I love it that He knew exactly why I was moving furniture for years and patiently waited for me to come to Him for the answers!
I still love to change things around (like my template); I just question my true motives first. If I don't feel satisfied with something, I pray and seek to change it. (Sometimes we need to change things in our lives, change can be for the better.) When I do this, I find REAL contentment no matter where the furniture sits in my home!
