My Sewing Machine

I'm so excited! I just dropped off my sewing machine to be fixed and oiled! I never thought I would ever use it! My mom gave it to me years, and I mean years, ago. I just put it in my closet and left it. When we moved to the house we are in I looked for the parts and couldn't find the attachments. I knew they had been put in a moving box from the other house, but I couldn't find them anywhere. Then just when I thought all was lost, David's parents cleaned out their garage and guess what??? The attachments were in a box that had gotten stuck at their house!
My first project is going to be a quilt! A king size quilt made from jean scraps. I've been saving cuts from all the kids jeans. I even bought a rotary cutter to help me cut them quickly. (It was taking forever with the scissors to cut that denim material.) I think I'm even going to ask Jd if I can use a pair of his size 60, yep 60 X32's, to add to my memory quilt! What memory that quilt will hold when I'm done. I haven't decided what other colors I'm going to do, but I must admit that Americana colors are what I'm leaning towards.
My oldest sweetie is taking a sewing class, which is so cool for a 10 yr old. I didn't learn to do any of that till I was in the 7th and 8th grade! She's one smart cookie you know! She's already made one pillow and she's working on a matching blanket. She has the material for her next pillow. She's anxious to work on that one, because it has puppies on it. She wants a puppy so bad and we just can't have one right now. I hope we will be able to soon or I think we'll scar her for life. She's been waiting for 3 yrs now, that is a long time to wait. June is coming ....I'd love to give her one then, but we'll just have to wait and see.
I get my machine back, as good as new, next week sometime! I'll keep you posted on my latest projects and how things are coming along!

Sounds great. When I was little, a dear lady from my church took a bunch of my daddy's old jeans and made a quilt with red bandana backing. I use it now for the 3rd of my 4 sons.

You are not going to believe this but I am looking at my sewing machine right this very minute. It is setting on the floor waiting on me to take it to get it fixed!!! Pat gave it to me a long time ago and I brought it out to make curtains for my kitchen but it needed servicing. My mom brought hers when she came and did them for me!! Isn't it funny how things work out!
