I bet you're wondering what 1825 Group is! Well, it just so happens to be the name of a Sunday School class that my Jd is teaching! The class is 18yr olds to 25 yr olds! Good name, huh?! It is so great to see him in his "element". He is such a good teacher and he doesn't even know it! (In case you're reading my blog Jd, you are a great teacher and I am honored to call you my husband!) I sat and listened as he talked about the 10 Commandments. I know you are thinking, we've heard that one before...but this was so relevant for 18 to 25 yr olds! He only talked about the first commandment: "Do not have any other gods before me."
When he talked to me about teaching this class, I knew he was going to be able to teach them great things, but I questioned whether they would listen or not. 18 to 25 yr olds are normally in their own world. I base that statement on two guys from our first youth group who are still coming to our house! We know a lot more than most think, because these two boys have been REAL with us and their struggles as young adults. Anyhow...I was curious to see if this new group would grasp the wisdom Jd has and embrace him. I think the group is great and I think they are listening! (You know who you are, if you are reading my blog too! We love you guys and all we want is, for all of you, to grow in the knowledge of Jesus Christ and have a deeper and REAL walk with God!)
Back to the 1st of the Ten Commandments.....Jd pointed out that we all can have other gods in our lives. I must admit I expected to learn nothing last night, but I walked out of that class thinking and asking God if their was something in my life that was more important than Him. There were a few that came up, not something I would've thought though....sleepism! Sleep, I love sleep, and sometimes I use having all these kids here all day to excuse my need to take a nap. Some days I take a nap to disengage from the day. I think the Holy Spirit was telling me that sleep is not what I need, what I need is to sit with God for a break and let Him "fill my cup". Ouch!
I love learning more about Christ and pressing onward to the prize before me, but it is even greater when my husband is the one who has prompted me to walk closer to God!
