We have been so busy catching all the fireworks around town! The first fireworks we saw were our neighbors. Every holiday they have a small fireworks display. The kids all watched from their bedroom windows. Then we went to a Tides baseball game on Monday evening and they had fireworks too. On the 4th, our other neighbors invited us over to their front yard for more fireworks. This was the first time our kids were allowed to have sparklers. (Mary Beth wasn't allowed and was very upset with us.) I was not "excited" about the other kids doing it either, but I can't shelter them forever. And last night, Papa took the girls to another baseball game, Pilot's, and they watched fireworks again! So...we have had a week full of firework displays!
On the 4th, our friends from West Point came down. We all went to the pool together. The girls had a great time with each other. Mary Beth and Charlotte were so cute in the "kitty-kat" pool. That's what Mary calls the baby pool. I think last year she thought that was what we were saying when we would say "the kiddy pool". It is so cute, that we've not corrected her and she still calls it that!
I have one problem about going to the pool on the 4th of July....sunburn! It was a lovely day. The weather was perfect, very little humidity and low 80's. I will admit, I knew I was going to get a burn, but I had no idea how severe it would be. I wanted to get a little sunburn to begin my summer tan. Ignorant..I know. I'm paying for it now and I have no one to blame but myself. I was a able to sleep on my stomach last night for a while. I'm going to buy some good sun block today. I had old sunblock and I think that was the problem. I slathered the kids in the stuff and they still were burned, but not as badly as me. And we are NOT going to the pool today!
