I CAN'T KEEP UP!

UGH! I'm having a really hard time keeping up with this blog these days. I don't have a clue why either. Nothing has changed. Our life is the same ole', same ole'. Busy...but that's it. Everyone knows what I'm talking about...that busy where nothing is really accomplished, but things are maintained...yep, that's it and we've been doing that for a while. Well, I'm TIRED of it! I've found myself longing for simple days. Why have I become a hurrier? I hate hurry. I know we live in a fast paced society, but do I have to live fast paced, too? I think not.

I made a decision that I'm going to slow our family down a little. Dd was talking about basketball season for the 4 older kids and I just sighed. I am planning to ask Dh if it would be alright for us to skip this season, so we can slow things down a bit. Just yesterday, Dh was remarking about a movie preview and said: "that lookes like a renter". I reminded him that we haven't rented a movie in months. We haven't made time is really the issue, but life gets busy. We all know that. But, should it get that way? Should we let it get that way?

One of the things that has made me think on slowing down is the latest addition to our family. He's black, cuddly and super sweet. Buddy, we adopted him from the shelter. He is so calm. I know...it's hard to believe, but he is the calmest dog I've ever seen! He just goes with the flow of life around here, sitting at someone's feet. During school time, he sits under the school desk at the kids feet and even now, he's right beside me, laying quietly. I have even said repeatedly- "Are you sure he's OK?"

We all need to slow down and find quiet, if only for a few moments in the day. I know for me, quiet is where I find sanity in this crazy thing we call: OUR family!

GIIIIRRRRRLLLL!!!! I so hear you on that one. I love to watch "The Andy Griffith" show. Just the thought of the family, after dinner, going to sit on the front porch. Sometimes they talk, sometimes they sit. how nice.....
