Christmas Memories

What do these four things have in common?
A trip to Sam's Club.
One trip to Dunkin' Donuts.
One trip to Panera Bread.
And one trip to Tropical Smoothie.

Daddy!

My sweet husband took all the kids out on special "dates" during the holidays. The boys were thrilled to "hang'' with Dad at Sam's, eat pizza and share a Coke. Next, he took Lauren to Panera Bread for breakfast. The next morning, he took Mary Beth out to breakfast at Dunkin' Donuts. When she came home she was so happy, because she ate TWO chocolate covered donuts! And last, but not least, he took Emily to Tropical Smoothie for lunch.

Such joy, to have a few minutes alone with Dad. They LOVED going with just him and being able to have his undivided time. There were many gifts given over the last few weeks, but I hope this gift from their Dad will be the one remembered most. Time is a gift.

When life becomes so busy that we can't find time, then I think it's time to stop and regroup. The holidays were a perfect time to stop. We had time to just be a family and enjoy each other. Were there still fusses and arguments? Yep. Was there still name calling and sibling rivalry? Yep. It was GREAT! (I know...my sanity factor just plummeted.) I really enjoyed being together, in spite of all arguing.

Hopefully, Dad won't wait till next Christmas to do it again!

How great is that? I think it SO important that each parent is able to spend one-on-one with each child. I have heard a study saying that parents spend less than 30 minutes per day with their children (meaning quality time) I think that is so sad....but having so many kids, it is hard, don't you think? I pray that i never miss out on their lives.

Happy new year!
