Homeschool Material

It's been a couple days since my last post, sorry. I really couldn't think of anything to write about - I know, imagine that! But, today my mind was filled with thoughts on a new curriculum that we started last week.

I know this sounds a little strange, to be starting a new curriculum so far in to the schooling season, but I wanted to see if the girls could handle adding more to their daily work. Since this was our first year homeschooling, we started out with the minimum and only core subjects ( reading, writing and math). I made the decision, because I was afraid. All the curriculum was overwhelming and choosing was even more nerve-racking! Now that I've become more comfortable and know what I'm doing (at least I think I do), I'm ready to get the other subjects in too. I started looking about 4 weeks ago and found a some curriculum that looked good, so I ordered it. I told Jd about what I had ordered. I'm not sure what happened after that, but when the books came in he opened the package. He was very pleased with the books and I was happy he was happy! Silly, I know....but I love knowing that he trusts me to pick good curriculum!

The books are so awesome! I was reading with 2nd daughter about governments. Not just civil governments, but self government, family government and church government and that all 4 were created by God to protect us. I just sat there thinking how awesome it was to be able to teach her to look at the world through God's eyes, how he meant for things to be. I caught myself wishing that I had been taught these things as a child.

Earlier in the week, I was questioning our HS choice, and now ending the week, I KNOW that it is the best for our children. It's not about public school not being good enough, it's not about the influence of other children, this decision to HS is more than all of that - it's about what they are being taught and the Christian perspective.

The girls have adjusted well to the additional work and both are really doing well. I'm glad that I added this. We will most likely continue school through the summer, to finish up before the next school season begins, but all in all, I am happy we've decided to HS and I think the kids will too one day! To all my HS moms - keep on, keeping on - this is the best gift we could ever give our kids - knowledge in and through Christ!

If you go to my blog and click on the Keeping the Home under Other blogs....she is a Christian lady who homeschools her children. I think she has done it for awhile. Anyway, she has good ideas on homeschooling (that I've seen so far) you might want to check it out for ideas :D

Love your blog!
