Isn't it amazing that as soon as you know you get to escape for a night all hell breaks loose? Well....maybe it's not that bad. But, you get my point.
My oldest daughter and I are going on an overnight trip tomorrow. No other siblings allowed! (She loves that part!) I must admit that it does seem that she and I have no real alone time. Dad takes her places with him, just the two of them, but I rarely do. She placed as a finalist in our district bible quizzing, so we leave on a three hour ride tomorrow afternoon.
Hi-Ho Hi-Ho it's off to quiz we go!
We are not the only ones going either, so are some of her friends, which makes it great for both us! I will get to have adult conversations and she won't be bored! Hurray!
I know some of you totally understand what I'm talking about...adult conversation is such a rare commodity. I will actually have a chance to communicate without my referee shirt and whistle!
I did make some plans for dear ole dad while I'm away, even if it is only for one night. Those of you with large families will definitely understand the planning involved if mom goes away at all! Actually, ALL moms will understand the undertaking whether you have two or more kids! The laundry has to be done- totally, because they will need that ONE shirt in the laundry basket and ask dad about it. The house needs to be clean, because you never know who might come over to assist dad in his efforts to keep the little rascals under control. And last, but not least, the fridge needs to be stocked with plenty of emergency snacks and meals planned just in case dad decides to actually cook them something vs. going to Golden Corral. I've even made sure the soccer uniforms for Saturday's games are clean and ready to go. I am nervous though, because three of our kids are almost the same size and it's hard to tell their sizes apart. (Maybe I will put their names on their stuff, just in case it gets meddled with.)
Oh well...I'm sure he can handle it all just fine. He's a great engineer...he'll have it all together for sure. He won't do it all the same as I would, but that's OK! (It's taken 13yrs for me to get that "Ok" on the end of that statement!)

My oldest is in Bible Quiz. :D How fun.
I totally KWYM about mom leaving. My DH is a pilot. I've told him that when he leaves, it's just a matter of life going on. If I leave, life shuts down for a brief moment and chaos ensues.
ENJOY YOUR TIME!
Hope u and Em had a great time just being Mom and daughter! It is good to do that every once in awhile. Love ya! Jen
