I haven't posted in a while because I have absolutely NO idea what to write about! So...I guess I'm going to write about our first family picture! I know it seems weird that we've been married for 13 yrs, had 5 kids and have NEVER, EVER had a family picture. I was so excited when the church announced that it was doing a picture directory, so all the families would have to have a picture taken for it. I mean I was so happy! David and I haven't had our picture taken together since we were married! I was totally ready for this!
I made sure that all of us had on color coordinating outfits, hair was done as nicely as possible and we arrived on time. I was sweating it though, it was not easy to get all five kids ready (and me too) without Dad to help, but I managed. I think I breathed a sigh of relief as I pulled in to the driveway of the church. No one had spilled anything, or fallen, or got hit and all was well! Hurray! Ok - those with large families will understand how hard this picture thing is to get everyone looking the right way, holding their little heads the right way and everybody smiling NATURALLY at the same time. It was a true task! At one point during our picture shoot, I got the giggles so bad I thought I was going to loose all composure! Emily was giggling, and Dh was touching my behind! I thought- this is hopeless! I have no idea how many pictures they took, but it was a few. We looked them all over and picked the one that was the least atrocious. All of them were totally gross! All my hopes of having a nice family photo washed away almost instantly. Then something weird came over me....laughter, knee-slapping, sides hurting laughter! (Even now it is still funny.) We received our complimentary 8x10 yesterday and Dh looks drunk! I think we are going to take a trip to Walmart, because I want my family picture doggone it! I love their pictures and the people there have always been very patient with me as I complain about the poses. If that doesn't work then I'm calling a friend of ours that does photography on the side and see if she'll do it for us...maybe on the beach or something!
Laughter IS the best medicine.
Fellow mom's find something to laugh about for Mother's Day and laugh till your sides hurt!
