I wonder how many other families live life LOUD? The last few days all anyone can do is talk LOUD. I been wondering if my ears are becoming more sensitive or something. I have always been able to "block-out" most of the play noises, which absolutely annoys my better half! He cannot "block-out" anything. But, lately I just cannot do it.
I would love to be one of those "quiet" families. You know who I'm referring to. The families where Mom and Dad never have to even raise their voices. Their normal conversations are almost in hushed tones. After talking with these wonderfully quiet people, you walk away and the conversation in your head goes like this: "What on earth did we just talk about? Because I couldn't hear her at all! I hope I didn't agree to do something!"
I am lucky to have several friends that are LOUD like us, so I never feel like I need to apologize. Our kids play together and if it's quiet we know we are in trouble. If my kids are quiet at all, something is going on. One of my boys refuses to play at all if you tell him not to make any noise. Car noises are a must when playing with your Hot Wheels. Light saber noises are a must when playing Luke Skywalker. Baby noises when the baby dolls are out. And my favorite is...drum roll, please....tent noises. Yes, I said tent noises. Every time I make a tent for the kids to play (rainy day forts) the kids play this game where there are imaginary soldiers that they have to run and hide from. I think they've read too many missionary books, because the soldiers are always going to take them away and they'll never return!
But, honestly, I'd love for this family to be quieter. For the meantime, I guess I'll walk around with cotton in my ears!
