I've waited for this day to come and now that it's here I'm not sure I like it as much as I thought I would. Tonight, we only had 1 child around the house! Littlest Mary went to Grandma's to spend the night. My mom became adventurous and asked to take her and my brother's daughter for the evening. She will come home tomorrow mid-morning. Then the boys were invited to a friend's house to spend the night. And Lauren has been going to a friend's VBS this week, so tonight she was doing that. We totally didn't know what to do with ourselves! We only had one child!
In honor of this rare event, we took Emily to Olive Garden. We had passed by the restaurant this week and she mentioned that she had never eaten there before. I was shocked, at first, but then realized we don't usually take the children to expensive restaurants. We all treated ourselves tonight, but I must admit I felt a little weird not having ALL the kids there. I think it was probably good for Em, because rarely does she get one on one time with Dad and I both.
As I sat and watched her, I realized how she has grown. What a young lady she is starting to become! In another ten years, she will be grown and more than likely, out on her own. Then I will look back on tonight and wish we could do it over again.
Well, it's time for me to get these TWO kids in the bed...weird, what a really weird friday night.

I SO KWYM about that. You look forward to a bit of down-time, but them miss them like mad when they ARE gone.....then to think how fleeting these moments are. I already miss them....and my oldest is 9.
I totally get it. I had just the biggest and littlest last week and it was good but it was wierd the whole week. I did enjoy it tremendously. One kid out of the mix is usually great for us but two or more freaks me out. I miss them.
