My father took my boys to the hunting lodge this past weekend and they returned home with these! Squirrel tails! They are pretty gross if you ask me, but my boys think they are awesome. The boys had a great time with Grandad and we had a quiet weekend with the girls. I was really nervous sending them, but I knew my Dad would protect them with his own life if he needed to, so I held my breath and waved goodbye on Friday morning. Now, I haven't been to the hunting lodge since I was about the boys' age. We went as a family vacation, renting a pop-up trailer and everything. All I remember was being barefoot and stepping on a black rat snake, while walking on the little path down to the creek. After that my dad didn't have to worry about me fussing when he and my brother went away for the weekend to the hunting lodge, nope no problem, you go right ahead. Realizing one trip can make you or break you of the experience made their leaving even more stressful for me, not to mention that if they got in to trouble, my Dad would never take them back!
I was relieved to see them on Sunday, even if they did come home carrying these "tails." They have filled us in on all the great stories of the weekend, and hopefully I will be able to show you some pics my Dad took to commemorate the occasion. It was really quiet while the boys were gone, but I am thrilled to have them home.

Steven has some in his room...yeah they are pretty gross but like your boys he, loves them. Jeremy goes hunting so all the kids are well informed of the ins and outs of all that. We also have gone to a hunting lodge...very interesting to say the least!! Don't know what is "fun" about it if you ask me :)I'm sure that our husbands would say the same about a lot of things that we are interested in too! Glad to hear they are back safe and sound!
